5 Ways To Double Your Productivity
It’s about that time of year again! Even though I’m now a grad, I still feel like summer was a minute long. Are we all ready for the semester babes? Got all our shopping done? No? From new morning routine habits to implement to a delicious cold brew coffee recipe to stay energized, read on for all my latest tips to staying (or getting) on your A game.
1. Make Your Bed As Soon As You Get Up
*Cue the eye rolls* I get it, I get it. But hear me out! I’ve talked about this in a video before, but it’s changed my life okay! If you haven’t seen McRaven’s viral speech or read his book about it, he says it best: “If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right. If, by chance, you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that’s made. That you made. And a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better.”

What You’ll Need:
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 TBS Cacao Powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- Unsweetened Almond Milk (or any non-dairy milk)

- Add all ingredients into a high-speed blender until combined. I love this one which I used throughout college.
- Add ice cubes into a glass, pour cold brew mixture on top.

3. Set Daily Intentions & Gratitude
Keep a gratitude journal and pen next to your bed for easy access. First thing in the morning (or right before bed, whatever works best for you!) write out your intentions and 3 things you’re grateful for that day (or the following day if at night). They can be small things or big things, but making a habit out of this will keep you in check of what’s important to you. You’ll reach your goals sooner if you keep yourself in check and make intentions to work towards them every day. Also taking the time to remind yourself of what you have to be grateful for is key (at least to me) to attracting even more goodness into your life. It’s all about a positive mindset people!
4. Read For Pleasure
It’s hard to set aside time to read for pleasure these days, let alone in college when you have assigned textbooks to read on top of everything else. But I can’t stress enough how much prioritizing this improved my wellbeing! We all seem to have time to unwind with Netflix before bed, but that time could be better spent diving into a new book! Our screens actually delays our body’s circadian rhythm and reduces melatonin (the sleep-inducing hormone) making it harder to to fall or stay asleep. I don’t know about you, but I seem to pass out SO fast when I read at night, it’s actually a dreaaaam! Swap that screen for a fun read and get that sleep you deserve boo!
5. Install StayFocusd
I’ll be the first to admit that I mindlessly and unconsciously scroll through social media or real estate websites (I’m not even looking to buy yet??) and easily lose track of time! Stayfocusd is a browser extension you can install to keep you focused by limiting your time spent on all your guilty-pleasure sites. Choose which sites you want to “block” yourself from after a certain time limit (I suggest 10-30 min max!) on the days you need to be productive! This is especially helpful when I have a time-sensitive project and I WISH I knew about this in college!
