Stuart Weitzman Highland Boots (true to size, I’m wearing a 6.5) // Paisley Dress (small) // Studded Velvet Jacket (small, also comes in cranberry!)

There’s no denying that over-the-knee boots make you feel like a million bucks. I could throw on this dress with some cognac slides in the summertime for a daytime, laid-back vibe; but the second I swap those slides for my OTK boots, I’m ready to conquer the world! Okay but for real you guys, I can’t get enough of these Stuart Weitzman boots. I am not someone who splurges like this on material items often, but I kept envisioning the day I would finally make them mine.

When fall break rolled around my senior year of college and my sorority headed off to Vegas, I knew I had to stop by the Stuart Weitzman store and try on my dream boots once and for all. Call me Cinderella, ’cause they fit like a damn glove. Of course they would right? Of course the only OTK boots that fit me perfectly would be this splurge-worthy. I had tried to fight it by trying just about every other pair of OTK boots I could find, but they would never work out. They’d either be way too tall for my short legs, or too loose and bunchy.

I felt like a rebel that day I walked out of the store with the big purple bag swinging from my hand, not knowing how I’d get it back home in my carry-on. Two years later and I have not yet regretted that decision once. Sometimes you gotta make that ballsy move you can’t quite justify to anyone. (It helped that I had my instigator gal pal with me who I also nudged into getting some studded booties out of her means as well)! I knew I’d get some eye-rolls rockin’ these in my college town in Nebraska, but that didn’t stop me from slipping these on any chance I got.

If you’re on the hunt for your perfect pair of OTK boots, keep in mind that you don’t necessarily have to splurge like I did. I’m 5″3, so I knew I was in for a struggle on my hunt to find my pair, as I always assumed you had to have a tall, model stature to rock them. But that is not true! My biggest advice is to scour as many stores you can and try on as many pairs as it takes. Shopping online for these is tough if you haven’t tried them on in person, since you really don’t know how they’re going to hug your legs, where they’ll hit your thighs, how easy (or difficult) they are to slide on, and their overall comfortability. To me it wasn’t worth spending 1/4 as much on a pair that didn’t fit great, since I knew I would never reach for them. What’s the point of buying anything if you know at the store that you’re not gonna reach for it much?

Moral of the story: Make smart shopping decisions, but also let yourself be a little rebel once in a while. One of my favorite takeaways from the book You Are A Badass is when she discusses how she bought an expensive car she couldn’t afford, but had the faith that buying it would force her to go out and make the money to pay for it. And you know what? She did it. Don’t dig yourself into a deep hole and buy things unless you have the drive and faith that you’re going to make it work. Make it work girl!

Shop my favorite OTK boots below at much more affordable prices, as well as some killer fall dresses you could pair with them!

The fact that it’s already August is freaking me out way too much! How is it already back to school season!? Or should I say wedding season for me this year…woah! I have 9 flights this month, but I can’t wait to take you babes along with me on my travels! Now that it’s the beginning of the month, it’s time for my July Instagram Roundup! If you missed last month’s, check that post out here! Basically, every start of the month I will delve into my Instagram photos from the past month, giving you guys insight behind the photo, and sharing my outfit details, since not all made it to the blog! Let’s do this!

*this post includes affiliate links. for more info, check out my disclosure*

The photos from this fourth of July shoot are some of my faves! I did an entire post on this outfit, so check it out here if you haven’t yet!

I had so much fun this day, when Alex and I took a spontaneous day trip to Long Beach and went whale watching (only my favorite animal ever)! A full post on this day is coming soon!

In the beginning of July, Alex and I spent a week up north with my family at our cabin. It was so needed! There’s something so serene and carefree about being back there. I got this outfit for the 4th of July, and you guys seemed to love it when you saw it on Instagram as well! Despite it appearing to be a dress in this pic, it’s actually a two-piece set: an off the shoulder crop top and high-waisted skirt!

Outfit Details: Night Strider Set (Sold out! Sorry guys!) | Similar Set (same concept, different color! SO cute!)

This photo is yet another that I’ve done a full two posts on already, so I won’t reiterate the deets! ICYMI: the outfit post is here, and the LA guide post with this look is here!

Ahh this was such a fun night! I don’t want to give away too much because I have a full blog post coming in my LA guide soon (how many times do I have to say that in this post? My bad guys!)

Outfit Details: Blue Life Top // Reformation Denim // Strappy Sandals (also comes in brown!)

How cute is this dress?! Okay, so it got super wrinkled in my suitcase, but I couldn’t help but rock it anyway! I’ve been loving wearing the color red ever since I dyed my hair dark! And these shoes are my everything! I’ve been wearing them all summer long (and throughout most of my blog posts..oops!)

Outfit Details: Princess Polly Dress (on sale! also comes in mustard yellow!) // Brown Wedges

I absolutely love how this shoot turned out! This day, Taylor (my girl behind the cam!) and I went to an adorable café and had the best chai ever! My LA Guide all about this cute spot is up here!

Outfit Details: Dress // Circle Glasses

Cash me outside at the flea market, how bout dat? (I hate myself too). For real though, the flea market is probably my favorite place here! There are so many unique items you can get your hands on every week. I always have so much fun here and bring my friends and family when they come and visit! Yet again, blog post is on its way from this day!

Do you hate me yet? No? Okay good. I have a ton of posts coming for you guys, since I’ve been preparing for my many trips I have coming up this month! This just means you guys have a lot of fun content to look forward to. Yippee!

Posing fiercely with some rugs…how’d you spend your day? This day, I was filming my School Outfit Ideas With Glasses! Monday Through Friday video, which was so much fun to make! Make sure to peep the description box of that video if you want to see the full outfit and all the details on where you can get them!

This day, I had the most magical lunch ever with the Four Seasons team! We were treated to the most incredible, fresh cuisine from Hawaii, as a taste of what’s to come at the Chef Fest this October! I’m not even kidding you guys…every course was unreal. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! (For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you may have seen all of the courses on my story that day!) Needless to say I’ll be making my way to Hawaii once again very soon.

Outfit Details: Show Me Your Mumu Top (on sale!! I’m wearing a size small) // Navy Breeze Skirt (also on sale!) // Wedges

I had so much fun picking out little plant friends for my new home! I love filling my space with greenery…they instantly elevate my mood in the morning! I have more to pick up, but we are making progress on filling our home with all sorts of plants. On this day, Alex and I went to the greenhouse to pick up succulents for our patio! I actually have a blog post coming from this day as well, are you surprised? Hah!

Don’t mind me, just running errands like an #adult! I got the chance to stop by the Band of Gypsies showroom, and pick out some gorgeous pieces for my wardrobe! Needless to say, I couldn’t pass up this midi dress! Watch out for my upcoming haul to see all of the cute stuff I got my hands on!

Outfit Details: Band Of Gypsies Midi Dress

That’s about it for July! I hope you guys enjoyed this post! These are so fun for me to relive + not to mention I had a ton of fun creating the graphics this time around! Let me know your favorite memory from July in the comments below! Mwah!

Happy Friday beauties! Got any fun plans this weekend? I’m dying to know, so leave me a comment below! I want to start off by apologizing for the lack of blog posts this week! I’ve been busy pre-filming videos for you guys, as I’m going home to Minnesota next week, then off to Cape Cod for a bachelorette party! I am beyond excited to hit up the East Coast for what I can only imagine will be a craaazy weekend!

I also want to extend a huge thank you, to all of you who have taken my survey I sent out to those of you who are subscribed to my newsletter! It means the world to me, and your feedback is so appreciated and helpful! I always want to create content that you guys truly want, so I’m keeping your comments in mind when planning out future blog posts as well!

Since I’m traveling all month long, I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping to prepare for my trips! Since you guys always ask me what I’m wearing, I thought I’d compile a list of some mega sales going on this weekend (for any shopaholics like myself) to treat yourself and save a ton while you’re at it! Yes please!

Below are the sales you do not want to miss! I’ve also compiled some pieces from each sale that are on my wish list, and that I may just have to pick up for myself!

*this post includes affiliate links. for more info, check out my disclosure*

All Saints – 50% off

Eve Ankle Jeans: $71 (was $178)

These jeans have some stretch, making them mega comfy. Plus they’re ankle jeans, aka they will fit us short girls! They’re also currently in stock in every size, so get your hands on these while you can!

MacArthur Boot: $180 (was $450)

Hot damn, these boots are fire! I have too many black boots to justify another pair at the moment, but I had to include these if you’re on the hunt for a quality, investment boot! You can seriously wear these every day, they’re extremely practical and a closet staple. These also come in dark grey! Still up there in price, but compared to their usual, you’re getting an amazing deal on a shoe to last.

Passport Holder: $39 (was $100)

What says spontaneous trip better than treating your non-existent passport to a chic holder? No but really, I’ll be picking this bad boy up while it’s on sale! I have some travels planned in the near future, and it’s always a good idea to keep your passport concealed and identifiable at all times!

BLOOMINGDALES: Extra 20% off (code: summer)

Free People Vegan Leather Jacket: $118 (was $200)

The items I invest in most in my closet are jackets. They add the finishing touch to any outfit, and you get your use out of them more than anything! Plus they wear really well over time. I’m in love with this studded moto jacket from Free People, and for all you vegans out there, it’s faux leather! Hell to the yeah!

Nike FlyKnit Sneakers: $97 (was $130)

I’ve been craving a new pair of workout sneaks for so long! I just hate spending money on them, hah! So when I saw these were on sale this weekend, I got really excited! If you love working out, or want a new pair for the school year coming up, now is the time to buy these bad boys! They have a few different styles on sale this weekend, so be sure to browse around and utilize the markdown while you can! These also come in different patterns if that’s more your thing!

Star Studded Moto Jacket: $59 (was 150)

Holy sale! When I saw this I knew I HAD to tell you guys, because it is so damn cute! I believe Sarah has this jacket (not sure if it’s the same brand), but it looks about the same, and she looks killer in it! The star studs are such an unexpected detail, you are sure to get compliments all night long. A great jacket if you don’t like branching out too much with crazy colors, but still wanna step it up from the basic all-black jacket!

Stuart Weitzman Highland Boots: $478 (was $800)

Okay babes, I’m normally not the type to post splurge items, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to alert you that my all-time favorite shoes are on THIS big of a sale (40% off to be exact)! I’ll be honest, I can hardly justify spending this much money on any clothing, handbag, or accessory, but after lusting after these bad boys for over a year, I saved up and made them mine. Needless to say, I cannot believe these are over $400 off this weekend!! These boots are everywhere and have been in style for years. Sure, there are cheaper versions out there, but these fit like an absolute dream. Whether you’re into fashion, treating yourself for working your ass off, or have been lusting after these for a while…you cannot pass up this discount.

West Elm: 30-40% off

Macrame Pillow: $31 (was $39)

Macrame is my middle name these days. Macrame curtains? Yes please. Macrame wall hangings? I want 5. Macrame pillows on sale? I’ll take them all! This white pillow is sure to pair nicely with any bedroom or living room decor. Also an adorable touch to that accent chair you have in the corner of your room!

Wool Rug: $319 (was $400)

You guys went bonkers over my living room rug from my latest Yippee Move With Me! episode, so if you’ve been searching endlessly for the perfect rug to spice up or section off your space, you may want to get this adorable babe while she’s on sale! Wool rugs are expensive AF: Alex and I went rug shopping in store, only to find they were all about $10,000. TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. FOR A RUG. What? I didn’t sign up for this #adult life! Yeah, needless to say, it took me months to finally find a rug that didn’t break the bank, yet would withstand being walked all over. While mine isn’t wool, this one is, meaning it should be super high-quality and last you a long time. I love the print, as it brings in some pops of color while still being neutral and not in your face. This also comes in a few larger sizes if you want to invest!

SHOP THE POST:

Let me know below what your favorite items from this weekend’s sales are! Did I miss any?! Help a sista out! Once again, I’ll be doing an Instagram Roundup on Monday, for all of the looks I rocked this month that may have not been featured on the blog! I love you guys so much, have a great weekend!

xx cait

Alright guys, I gotta say it: I can’t stop singing The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus songs while writing this post.

*Cue Face Down and Your Guardian Angel on Spotify*

Yeah, I know it’s not a red jumpsuit, but my brain can’t help but bring me back to the glory days of my middle school youth. Anywho, I’ve been seeing jumpsuits EVERYWHERE, and I am all about it. Lace jumpsuits? Yes please. Stripes? I want 3.

*this post includes affiliate links. for more info, check out my disclosure*

I had planned on posting a relationship advice post today, but it went missing! I wrote it all down on a document, and it is nowhere on my computer. I shall find it (or rewrite it) so I can post that this week! Anywho, you guys were in love with this lace jumpsuit I posted all over my Instagram, after a dreamy shoot with the incredible Allegra Rose! She’s a fellow Minnesota native, so we had to get together when I was back home! Her work is so beautiful, creative, and #goals! Seriously, check her out on Instagram, it’s oozing with inspo.

I picked this jumpsuit up from Nordstrom (which if you guys haven’t already seen everywhere, their anniversary sale is going on this month!) and I just love everything about it! It’s elastic, so it’s as easy as throwing a dress over your head. Feminine, yet unexpected. I rocked this over the weekend when Alex and I got dinner at the ever-so-fabulous restaurant, Osteria Mozza, here in Los Angeles. I first heard of it as, the restaurant Beyoncé and Jay-Z have date night, then as, the restaurant with a 3 month wait list and finally as the restaurant on Chef’s Table. I’m high-key obsessed with Chef’s Table, and Alex and I were drooling the entire episode! Needless to say we booked a reservation weeks in advance, and it exceeded our expectations tremendously! I may have to include this place under my LA Guide soon!

Outfit Details: Lace Jumpsuit // Nude Booties // Fringe Denim Jacket (almost sold out!)  // Fringe Jacket (similar style!) // Fringe Denim Jacket (similar!)
